Pole-Top Rescue

About This Course:

Project Overview:

I developed a comprehensive rescue training program for a local telecommunications company, focusing on enhancing the safety and efficiency of lineman rescue operations. This program includes practical instruction on essential knots, rescue techniques, and hazard awareness. This training program is designed to equip linemen with the skills and knowledge needed to perform rescues safely and efficiently, reducing risks and improving outcomes in emergency situations. Through hands-on practice and theoretical instruction, participants gain confidence and competence in critical rescue techniques.

Audience:

A wide range of learners (linemen and ground hands) are located in Oregon. Learners are from different crews including contractors and their knowledge of pole top rescues are varied.

Course Outcomes:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to demonstrate safety in climbing to the incident site, identify and tie four essential knots, use hand tools to create a friction belay system to lower a dummy, safely cut the dummy’s belt, and lower the dummy from a pole while suspended.
